Dive Rite Sidewinder Jump/gap Reel
Dive Rite Sidewinder Jump/gap Reel. North Florida cave diver, Woody Jasper, first invented sidewinder-style reels around 1980. Less likely to entangle than other reels on the market, Woodys original reel was made of aluminum and a PVC spool. The side-handle style of the reel lent itself to exploration because it could easily switch from hand to hand while laying out line. Twenty years later, sidewinder-style reels were popularized in the technical diving community when DIR enthusiasts began using them for paying out line in deep caves at high speed on a DPV. Our Sidewinder series of reels are designed to be anti-jam by using precision machine tolerances between the frame and the spool making it nearly impossible for the line to slip between the spool and the handle. Choose between our Sidewinder Cave Primary (RE50400) with 400-feet of #24 braid line our Sidewinder Wreck Primary (RE50250) that has 250-feet of #36 braid line, both with extra large stainless bolt [continued]Specifications:- DuPont fiber braid line provides strength and minimizes fraying.- Cave series reels use #24 braid line giving 220-lbs of breakage strength. Wreck series reels use #36 braid line giving 350-lbs of breakage strength.- Injection molded polycarbonate spool resists breakage and cracking.- Marine grade stainless steel axle is corrosion resistant.- High quality aircraft grade aluminum frame is corrosion resistant.- Marine grade stainless steel bolt snap is corrosion resistant.- Knurled lockdown screw has a low profile to prevent snagging- 12 oz (340g)
Dive Rite Sidewinder Explorer Reel
Dive Rite Sidewinder Explorer Reel. North Florida cave diver, Woody Jasper, first invented the Explorer Reel around 1980. As cave explorations were becoming longer, deeper, and more extensive a reel was needed that could help an explorer make some serious penetrations into a virgin cave system. Less likely to entangle than other reels on the market, Woodys original reel was made of aluminum and a PVC spool. The side-handle style of the reel lent itself to exploration because it could easily switch from hand to hand while laying out line. Wreck series reels use #36 braid line giving 350-lbs of breakage strength.- Injection molded ABS spool resists breakage and cracking.- Marine grade stainless steel axle is corrosion resistant.- High quality aircraft grade aluminum frame is corrosion resistant.- Marine grade stainless steel bolt snap is corrosion resistant.- Knurled lockdown screw has a low profile to prevent snagging- 2.68 lbs (1.21 kg).
Dive Rite Stainless Steel Finger Spool 30
Dive Rite Stainless Steel Finger Spool 30. These stainless steel finger spools are as rugged as they come. Crafted of 16 gauge 304L stainless steel for durability in marine-grade environments, these reels are TIG welded and then electro-polished.Available in 30-foot (9.2m) and 100-foot (30.5m) increments, these stainless steel spools are compact with a narrow footprint as compared to similar plastic spools, giving the diver the advantage of saving real estate or carrying multiple spools easily. Smooth edges provide comfort and an easily-held ergonomic design.Includes a premium quality, marine-grade stainless steel bolt snap that provides smooth operation and #24 white, DuPont fiber braid line.

Dive Rite Finger Spool 125
Dive Rite Finger Spool 125. In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didnt empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The spools came in various sizes and North Florida cave diver, Bill Hogarth Main, popularized smaller spools for safety and jump reels. Today, our 125-foot Finger Spool is often used for shooting lift bags as well as a safety reel. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in the double ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use. Made of ABS plastic, finger spools are simple to use and virtually indestructible in the water. They come standard with a large [continued]Specifications:- White, DuPont fiber braid line provides strength and minimizes fraying (RE4900)- Orange Dacron line does not stretch, keeping tension firm (RE4920)- Uses #24 braid line giving 220-lbs of breakage strength.- Injection molded polycarbonate spools resist breakage and cracking.- Marine grade stainless steel double ended bolt snap is corrosion resistant.- 6 oz (170g)
Dive Rite Primary Wreck Reel
Dive Rite Primary Wreck Reel. The genesis of the Primary Reel began in 1984 when North Florida cave divers needed a reel with 400-feet of line in order to reach the main line in the Devils cave system at Ginnie Springs. Voila! The Dive Rite Primary Reel was born. Today, divers may choose between our Primary Cave Reel (RE4300) that has 400-feet of braided #24 line and a medium stainless steel bolt snap or our Primary Wreck Reel (RE4310) that has 250-feet of heavier #36 braid line and an extra large stainless bolt snap. These reels position the handle on top, which helps divers who use a handheld light to hold both the light and the reel in one hand, freeing the other hand to work the reel. The frame of the Primary Reel comes with a series of pre-drilled holes so divers can change the handle position from a top-mount handle, to a side-mount handle or a left-hand operated reel. The spool is held in place with a stainless steel "C" clip so replacing [continued]Specifications:- DuPont fiber braid line provides strength and minimizes fraying.- Cave series reels use #24 braid line giving 220-lbs of breakage strength. Dive Rite Cavern / Safety Reel #24
Dive Rite Cavern / Safety Reel #24. Cavern/Safety ReelThe Cavern/Safety Reel came about as North Florida cave training agencies began establishing standards in cave training. The established standard for cavern divers was to limit penetration no farther than 130 linear feet from daylight. Experienced cave divers use the Cavern/Safety reel as a jump reel or as a back up for security. Wreck divers will use this reel for shooting lift bags. The frame of the reel comes with a series of pre-drilled holes so divers can change positions from a top-mount handle, to a side-mount handle or a left-hand operated reel. The spool is held in place with a stainless steel "C" clip so replacing the spool or cleaning up a jammed reel is simple.- White, DuPont fiber braid line provides strength and minimizes fraying.- Orange, Dacron line does not stretch, keeping firm tension.- Cave series reels use #24 braid line giving 220-lbs of breakage strength. Wreck series reels use #36 braid line giving 350-lbs of breakage strength.- Injection molded polycarbonate spools resist breakage and cracking.- Marine grade stainless steel frame and axle are corrosion resistant.- Marine grade stainless steel bolt snap is corrosion resistant.- T-top lockdown screw for easy grip- 1 lb (0.45 kg)TIPS:1.Before diving with a new reel (or a dry reel that has been in storage), put the reel in a bucket of water and after soaking, pay out the entire length of line and reel it back in. This will moisten the line, precluding it from swelling on the reel and further preventing the possibility of jamming or damaging the spool.2.As with most dive equipment, you should rinse your reel with fresh water following each dive. You should also periodically disassemble the reel, and remove any build up of salt or sediment on its internal parts.3.Dive Rite recommends pulling some or all of the line off the spool before each dive, then rewinding it neatly but not too tightly, so as to prevent the possibility of jamming during line deployment.4.Finally, too much line on the spool can cause jams during initial deployment, if you are having a problem with jams try removing 10 or 15 feet of line.
