And indeed, the high-power 3 W mono LED lets a lux meter measure up to a whooping 10,000 lux at a distance of one meter! Translated into the power of a halogen bulb, this is equivalent to 30 watt!!! Unlike traditional technology, this light yield lasts because an electronic LED voltage control ensures a consistent light intensity throughout the entire 5 hours of burn-time. So you won’t run out of light at the wrong time, Mares’ developers chose eight regular AA batteries (or rechargeable AA batteries) for this model. Big output, small dimensions: Hard to believe that this much light can radiate from a 178 mm lamp! And this fact comes in very handy on vacation and during the dive, because the Eos 3 can be easily stowed in the BC pocket. The award-winning Mares design team (Red Dot Award 2010 for the X-Stream fin) has developed a torch body you won’t want to put down again. Mares Twin Beam. The Twin Beam’s basis is a compact LED torch made of sturdy, hard-anodized aluminum. This type of surface finishing provides an extremely professional and very scratch-resistant, military-style design. Turning its base switches on the Twin Beam and produces an ultra-bright light beam with over 5,500 Kelvin (Attention! Do not look directly into the light!). More than enough light for a back-up lamp, which can easily be stowed in the BC or even in the smallest pouch.
