Dive Rite Alluminium Backplate
Dive Rite Alluminium Backplate. Invented by Greg Flanagan in 1979 for North Florida cave divers.
Greg realized that a back-mounted buoyancy system gives a diver natural balance in the water, due to the divers center of gravity (tanks) being surrounded by the center of buoyancy (BC/ wings). In addition, the diver gains a clean chest area with room for gear attachment points on the harness.
Bill Hogarth Main went on to popularize the backplate and harness and dive purists who follow the DIR philosophy have come to embrace what is known today as the "Hogarthian Rig". Dive Rite began manufacturing backplates for the public in 1984 and pioneered 11-inch on center bolt spacing creating an industry standard that is still followed today.
Sturdy, yet lightweight, the aluminum backplate is ideal for twin backmounted steel tanks since additional weight from the plate is not necessary. Eleven-inch on center holes accommodate standard double tank bolt kits and holes along the perimeter of the plate allow for mounting lights, pony bottles, lift bags and other accessories.
One-inch and two-inch slots along the bottom permit divers choice of crotch straps. Two 3/8-inch slots along the bottom are designed to fit screws for attaching lift bag sleeves, sidemount butt plates or other accessories. Two-inch slots along the center allow single-tank divers to use cam straps without a single tank adaptor.
All edges are beveled to eliminate sharp edges and prevent abrasion to harness webbing. Anodized black aluminum.
Made in the U.S.A.

Dive Rite Stainless Steel Backplate
Dive Rite Stainless Steel Backplate. Dive Rites stainless steel XT backplate is one of the few backplates that is made in the USA. All Dive Rite backplates are laser cut and individually finished by hand. This attention to detail ensures that there will be no rough, jagged edges that could potentially damage harness or accessory webbing. The XT backplate uses an 11 gauge, low carbon and rust resistant 316L grade stainless steel. Weighing in at 5.2 lbs (2.4kg), stainless steel plates are a popular option for divers looking for a more even distribution of ballast weight. The XT backplate is set up with 11" (27.9cm) on-center mounting holes to accommodate standard double tank bolt kits, including two holes for the upper bolt to give user adjustability of tank height. Two sets of 2" slots along the center allow divers to use the backplate for single tank diving without the need for a single tank adapter. This will reduce the possibility of the plate impacting and damaging the wing or other gear caused by objects shifting. The 316L grade of stainless steel is a rust resistand grade of stainless steel, however rinsing with freshwater after saltwater use is still recommended.
Dive Rite Comfort Plate Pad
Dive Rite Comfort Plate Pad. The Backplate Lumbar pad is designed for use with hard metal backplates.
It alleviates pokes and prods from the plate into the soft area of the back and protects the exposure suit from possible bolt snags. The Backplate Lumbar Pad attaches securely to any hard backplate by threading the shoulder straps through webbing loops at the top of the pad.
The lower portion of the pad attaches through the crotch strap slot with a webbing loop. A quick release buckle allows the pad to be lifted away from the plate for easy access to bolts when diving double tanks. Open-cell porous design allows the pad to release water and dry quickly, plus it resists compression allowing the pad to maintain its thickness and comfort-providing shape at depth.
Quick-dry fabric and drainage holes quickly release water and aid in drying.
Made in the U.S.A.
* Constructed of 400 denier nylon face and 1000 denier ballistic nylon backing.
* Quick-dry foam padding with an open-cell porous design allows the pad to release water and dry in a hurry.

Our new Thigh Pocket includes an innovative leg band made of a proprietary material used in bandages. The material holds up to salt water and dries quickly, plus silicone strips placed on the inside of the band grip your exposure suit and keep the leg band in place. At 4-inches in width (10 cm), the new leg band will be comfortable and secure. The pocket is attached via a buckle on the waist belt, allowing a diver to don or doff the thigh pocket without having to unbuckle the waist belt and slide the pocket off.You have probably seen daisy chain technology on hiking and mountaineering backpacks. Daisy chains are webbing loops sewn to form a chain. On backpacks, they allow you to attach carabineers for accessories. Dive Rite has taken that concept one step further by developing unique sheaths for our cutting devices that will clip into the daisy loops. But thats not all. Inside our new pockets resides a 36-inch, looped lanyard to clip off reels, line markers and pocket lights. No more fumbling for the right tools, just pull out the lanyard, select the tool you need, and stuff the loaded lanyard back in the pocket.Lanyard too long- Simply cut and shorten the cord, re-tie the simple knot and cut off the excess. Weve seen a few divers out there sporting their own homemade version. Now the rest of us can enjoy the same great idea.Internal Space: 21x14x4cm
